Year 10 EMET Israel Programme 2012
WIZO Ahuzat Yeladim in Haifa
On the afternoon of Thursday 27 December 2012, 36 BJE Year 10 EMET Israel students were welcomed to the WIZO Ahuzat Yeladim House in Haifa. BJE students met with various staff members, teachers, parents and students who work and benefit from this school. It was clearly visible to the BJE students just how important the work the WIZO staff are providing to the students and the community of Israel. The students felt a sense of warmth and pride when they saw the names of the different rooms that had been donated by various Australian Jewish community families and organizations. The facilities at the School – Art Rooms, Computer Labs, Dining Hall, Classrooms, Student Dorms, Outdoor recreation area, Pet House and much more provides real joy to the students benefiting from this school.
Students were able to have intimate conversations with the students who attended this school. The students from Ahuzat Yeladim shared with us their life experiences, hopes and dreams. They explained to the BJE students how instrumental the Ahuzat Yeladim House had been for them in shaping the future direction of their lives. Students from BJE and Ahuzat Yeladim took part in arts and crafts activities with one another. At the end of this session the students exchanged what they had made with one another as way of connecting and remembering their afternoon together. It was a great way for the students to connect and form a bond.
