Adassa Is A True Survivor - Makom Balev - Be’ersheva

Having become used to having her life threatened and losing loved ones to violence, Adassa finds hope.

Adassa* is young woman that arrived in Beersheba a few months ago. Receiving an escort in the Makom Balev" from November 2020, was referred by a municipal worker. Adassa has been introduced and absorbed in the centre and has been in a stable and continuous relationship with us ever since. These days Adassa does not work or study, managed to rent an apartment alone in the city. Biodiversity from income support and temporary assistance in rent from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Adassa was born in Lod with her sister and parents which she has a good relations with them but not the father that is a violent man. Her sister is sick since she suffers from a chronic kidney disease and is being treated with dialysis. Her mother is in a wheelchair after a really bad accident. When she was 16 her father forced her to get married. Adassa was able to talk about the situation at school that managed to bring her case in front of the court and her father in prison for eight months.

When he got out, the family went back to living together in their home. After an escalation in the situation at home, Adassa found herself alone in the street at the age of 17 without any support and had to manage to survive. During this time, Adassa met a guy that was dangerous and indeed said that when she tried to leave him, he tried to kill her with a shot. Adassa received police protection, and nevertheless, a second attempted murder by the same guy. After this incident, she was smuggled to a shelter.

After a month of not getting along at shelter Adassa left. After the arrest of the man who tried to murder her, Adassa returned to her parents' house again. Despite repeated attempts to improve the situation with her father, the situation worsened so bad that her father locked her in the basement of the house, but even here and with great perseverance, Adassa managed to call police to get out of danger.

Adassa left for northern Israel and was absorbed into the framework of the Makom Balev Program in Haifa. Adassa managed to own an apartment of her own, it was also through her own risk and using prostitution and drugs to cope. After a period in Haifa she survived another attempted murder when she caught relatives of the man who tried to kill her and break into her home while she was away.

Since then, Adassa has left Haifa and arrived to live with a friend in Beersheba. Looks like the two got to the right way: found a job, hold a household together, Adassa even received a promotion in the short time she worked for the maintenance company.

About six months ago, they were staying with her relatives, a friend in Rahat, and in the afternoon, a masked man entered the apartment and shot the friend in front of Adassa and the girlfriend's daughter.

After this case, the young woman came to the treatment of a revival herbaria pester, who referred her to our place. Today, Adassa lives in an apartment on her limb after fleeing the home of a partner who abused her.  She receives income support and assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs in rent.

Academically

After the exposure of Adassa’s marriage experience at the age of 16 she did not return to school.

On the emotional behavioural side

Adassa went through extreme and difficult life events. It seems that in light of the murder she witnessed six months ago, she now experiences symptoms of trauma. She experiences difficult dreams, anxiety, intrusive and troublesome thoughts, disconnections and increased arousal. It is evident that Adassa is a very intelligent girl, connected to herself, to the reality of her life and to a very high social awareness. Beyond that, she has a history of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Adassa has experienced these events continuously and from a very young age at the hands of family members and strangers. She needs emotional assistance at a very urgent level. Therefore, she was directed to the Inbal Centre in Beersheba.

It’s functioning within the framework of the "Makom Balev" program

Since Adassa arrived at the centre, a positive personal relationship has been established with her companion, Ms. Amit Benchik. The two have an open and honest relationship, as well as with the accompanying enthusiast, Noa Field. The young woman succeeds despite the difficulty of attending shifts to help.

Encounters of the young woman with external factors

Adassa cooperates with relevant parties, knows how to use it honestly and respectfully. As it is said, she was in contact with a municipal peg and in the past in the framework of Makom Balev of Haifa, as well as in legal proceedings in the past, Adassa always cooperated with great courage, she undergoes treatment and supervision with Dr. Shiri Granot and is fully cooperating.

Face the soul

All the worst past events in Adassa's life due to ongoing mental, physical and sexual abuse to her recent testimony to murder have brought her to severe fractures. Sometimes she finds it very difficult to function until she is out of bed or from home. But it has great and clear rehabilitation potential, also, Adassa was referred for psychiatric assistance with Dr. Shiri Granot, was diagnosed with PTSD and RECURRENT DEPRESSIVE DISORDER, collaborating with treatment and follow-up.

And taking medication according to Dr. Shiri's prescription. Despite all the relief of her young condition, she still fails to function on the normative levels of life. Unable to go to work or learn despite her strong desire to fulfil herself.
