Sylvia Lipski
Sylvia was born in Brisbane on the 12th August 1957. She studied Interior Design which led her to discover various exciting avenues for a future down this path.
Sylvia was married in Brisbane in December 1975. As a newly married couple they enjoyed being part of many communal activities.
In 1977, Sylvia joined WIZO Aviva. It gave her a feeling of self-worth and drive to give back to the WIZO family in Israel.
In 1990, Sylvia became President of WIZO Aviva for a few years and enjoyed organising functions and involving the entire family in the wonderful work WIZO does.
Sylvia had a work accident in 1996 which limited her involvement to not be as much as she would have liked.
Her dear mentors, Inge Marcus and Myrna Freed z’l asked Sylvia to join WIZO Queensland as its Executive Director. Sylvia loved this position so much, it gave her a purpose after the accident and she strived to be the best she could be.
Sylvia thrived on all aspects of fundraising and had a real passion for inspiring others to join WIZO and build their passion of fulfilment. She still holds this position to this day and continues to have the passion in her heart.
Sylvia says “When we were young bringing up our families it seemed so easy to have women join and be a part of this incredible organisation. With the world as it is now women are time poor but it doesn’t stop us trying to get more women as members”.
WIZO has given her a true sense of connection with her peers and friends.
