Robyn Lieblich
Robyn Lieblich was born in Boddington, a small town in country Western Australia. Her paternal grandparents had emigrated to WA in the early 1920s from Palestine and her grandmother, Yedida Same was motivated by her childhood experiences of the deprivations and threats of life in that country to maintain a lifelong commitment to many Zionist organisations. She was a passionate and dedicated member of WIZO Galil.
The family later settled in Perth where her mother, Thelma Same became an integral member of the newly created WIZO Yaffa. Their home became a hub for the constant planning of wonderful fundraising events throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
Once she graduated as a social worker, Robyn developed a broader professional understanding of the importance of WIZO’s work and the amazing “best practice” status of its services and centres; especially after her first visit to Israel while a student.
Robyn joined WIZO Golan while continuing to work full time as a social worker in both aged care and young people with disabilities. She eventually became joint President of Golan for many years. A small band from this original group has continued to cater for countless functions, ranging from morning teas to formal dinners.
In 2017, with her three children now adults, Robyn was persuaded to take on the joint State Presidency of WIZO WA with Estelle Lin. Over the past 3 years, they have focussed on maintaining WIZO’s profile in the local community. Primarily they have concentrated on the critical work of attracting younger women to our organisation and developing skills in the use of social media to educate and motivate this group.
