Terry Groen
Terry was elected a Life Member of WIZO Australia for her wonderful support to all the Queensland State Presidents over many years, especially Jess Hoffman.
Terry had amazing skills of decorating art and handicrafts, which made her an integral part of WIZO Queensland's fundraising. Her love for Israel shows no bounds and she worked for it with love in her heart.
Her daughter began one of the younger groups but unfortunately it did not continue due to lack of young women in Brisbane at that time.
Terry and her husband Maritz owned eight Tiara women's wear shops in all the main shopping centres in Brisbane. They also owned other women's wear shops called Pepita. They had their own factory which manufactured most of the women's clothing they stocked the shops with.
Terry's husband Maritz, before the war was interested in diamonds so they decided they would have the business of retail diamonds so they could eventually open their wonderful Diamond store in Queen St Brisbane. This was the go-to jewellery shop as they had the most exquisite jewellery and diamonds.
Terry was called the WIZO driver because she would pick up all the older WIZO members around Brisbane and transport them to meetings and functions.
