Vera Friedman
Vera was married to Harry in December 1964 and since then worked in the family business with her husband. She did a course in Holocaust studies and Modern Jewish History at Melbourne University and has since done a year of Jewish and Christian relations through the ages as well as a couple of years of Melton studies.
Vera joined WIZO Masada in 1972 just after it started. She has been a strong and dedicated mainstay of her group over the years and was elected one of 5 Co-Chairpersons of WIZO Masada in 1984. In 1985 she was elected
President of WIZO Masada, a position she held till 2005 21 years. To this day, Vera continues to be active, involved and supporting of WIZO Masada.
Vera was also elected to the WIZO Victoria Executive as member without portfolio in 1989, Membership Chairperson in 1990, Organisation Chairperson in 1995, Fundraising Chairperson in 1999, Vice President of WIZO Victoria in 2002, and Hebrew Studies Chairperson in 2003.
During her 47 years of involvement in WIZO, Vera attended two Aviv Seminars in Israel, one of which encompassed a visit to Poland and Paris. Her dedication and commitment has been constant.
Vera has 3 children and 9 grandchildren and when not involved in WIZO work, is a doting and loving mother and grandmother.
