The Gallery has been swept and the Carnival is Over!

WIZO’s TIKVAH Art Exhibition was a wonderful success. Expertly curated by Joanne Baitz, the gallery set up was beautiful and the exhibition opened to a sell-out crowd who drank and ate and bought art!

This event was dedicated to support WIZO’s work with Ukrainian refugee families in Israel, where some 195 Ukrainian children have been welcomed and provided with wrap-around care by WIZO. It was called TIKVAH (Hope) because WIZO brings HOPE to those in need of it. The generosity all round was heart-warming and there are many people to thank:

Firstly, several generous sponsors got behind this project: Liz & Stan Abelman, Ian & Jill Green, Melanie & Simon Greenfeld, Laura & Bill Machlin, Scents the Perfume Specialists, Simon Walters Solicitor and Zoe Brest Physiotherapy.

The Mossenson family donated their lovely Gallery space, and their generosity was coupled with an abundance of grace and helpfulness. Thank you to Diane, Dan and Naomi. May your kindness come back to you in spades! Joanne Baitz, who is a professional curator, devoted countless hours to putting the exhibition together and she too did this in a most gracious way, making a very big job a pleasure for all involved. Joanne was ably assisted by Orit Peleg and Susan Edelstein. Under the baton of Terri Same, Sue Sander, Shelley Krasenstein and Glenys Swartz presented a medley of kosher treats in their usual inimitable way. Food and drinks were served by Adam and Asher, two handsome representatives from Habonim and Netzer.

Robin Rudaizky of Perth Expo Hire provided the stunning brochures and signage, as well as a male perspective to our deliberations. Nina Levy came on board as Publicity Adviser, Robbie Altmuner designed a fabulous web page and resolved many technical issues, and together with Joanne, Susan, Robyn and Estelle, there was a vibrant steering committee. Sara Walters managed a mountain of administrative work and significant pressure, but came out smiling!

A huge thankyou to all our helpers over the course of the weekend who “worked the floor” took payments and helped dismantle the exhibition – Sandi Leigh, Susan Edelstein, Leith and Dean Flinkier, Sandra Toby, Lesley Aloni, Joanna Fox, Iris Finn, Debbie Ulmer, Anne Levitt, Carol Adler, Debra Majteles, Yael Jacobson, Adina Lieblich, Lana Kagan, Steve Lieblich and Jeff Lin.

Several artists offered to donate the full proceeds of their work to our cause. Further wonderful artists requested to make a donation to WIZO. These are extraordinary acts of generosity and compassion to our cause.

On Opening night some fabulous door prizes were donated by Neil Turner, of Turner and Turner, Stormie Mills and the Levitt family. A raffle ran over the duration of the exhibition and was drawn on Sunday afternoon. 2 nights in Dunsborough donated by the Lin family was won by Len and Shirley Atlas, the magnificent blue topaz earrings donated by Steven Sher Antiques & Fine Jewellery went to Joshua Bartlett and a gift pack of Cognac, donated by the Majteles family, was awarded to Sandra Toby.

Much hard work by many people with good hearts equals success. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” (Helen Keller)
