WIZO WA celebrated International Women’s Day

WIZO WA celebrated International Women’s Day with a beautiful Israeli styled breakfast at PHC on Sunday 16 April. We celebrated three young women from within our community, all of whom had made brave choices, faced and overcame many challenges and struggles, and persevered to follow their dreams: Talia Swersky, Micaela Rafel and Nina Levy.  These young women inspired the audience and made us feel proud of our community. We also felt proud that WIZO is enabling children and young women in Israel who face enormous disadvantage to thrive and grow into women just like this.

Our thanks go to Happy Brew Espresso, a group of young men whose small business provides mobile (very good) coffee and who chose to support WIZO by donating the proceeds of their very busy coffee stand to WIZO. Another moment of pride in our community!  Sas Saddik once again took many wonderful photographs.  Sas is so generous in sharing his photographic skills with the community, always with good humour and grace and we so appreciate him.  Of course, a huge thank you goes to our WIZO women who always produce amazing food with love and smiles and work tirelessly to organise, set up and clean up.  What they do is a bigger deal than it may seem.  Saving on catering costs enables WIZO to send almost every dollar collected directly to our projects in Israel.  This is important!  Nadine Shainfeld put in a massive effort, delivered with a smile.  None of this would have been possible without the support of the Perth Hebrew Congregation who have provided WIZO with a temporary office, the venue and the use of the kitchen, and whose staff are so generous and supportive.  A huge thankyou to everyone who attended and supported WIZO WA.
