Betty Harris z'l

Betty Harris arrived from the United Kingdom in 1957 and became involved in WIZO in Perth through her friendship group and the work she had done in England.

Betty became WIZO Western Australia’s State President in 1971 and was responsible for making WIZO the premier women’s organisation in Perth at that time. She lifted the quality of functions and, corresponding to the increased affluence of the community, made the functions more sophisticated.

During her Presidency, Betty was responsible for forming the group WIZO Yaffa of which she was a devoted member and which led the way with innovative fund raising ideas. Through her persistence Betty had the Godel and Fania Korsunski bequest recognised as part of Western Australia’s contribution. Today the Korsunski Youth Centre is a valued part of Kfar Saba.

Betty held the State Presidency until 1976 and had a deep commitment to Israel and the values of WIZO.

She was a remarkable leader.
