Leila Share z'l
Leila Share was born in England in 1931 and arrived in Australia in 1963.
Leila was a very “social“ person, so as a new immigrant to Sydney, WIZO was a way of getting to know people, finding new friends and developing a circle of friends.
Leila was a person who felt it important to “give“ to her family, her friends, to her community and to Israel. She always had a strong wish to help those less privileged than her, so WIZO was obviously a great choice for her.
She first joined WIZO Daphna, later becoming President.
As an extra interest Leila had a weekly column in a local non Jewish newspaper.
Leila served as President of WIZO N.S.W. from 1987 until 1992.
Leila was one of the first to encourage the younger generation to become involved on the Executive.
She was well liked by all who met and knew her and described as a vibrant, lovely lady.
Leila was very active on the Federal Executive of WIZO Australia, holding the position of Fundraising Chairman from 1983 until 1989.
In the early 1990s Leila and her husband made Aliyah, following her children, David and Anne.
She learned Hebrew and settled into life in Israel very happily.
