Lisa Tenenbaum
Lisa Tenenbaum (nee Gross) was born in Melbourne, Australia on the 3rd March, 1965. Lisa was married at 21 years of age, and 3 beautiful children followed, Natalie Sarah, Gary Henry and Mark Joseph Tenenbaum. Sadly, she was widowed at the age of 36 years old, and realised then that she would need to grow stronger, more confident and to be super proud of the lady she was going to grow up to be.
As time moved forward, good fortune shone down on Lisa as she met her partner, Rodney Efron.
Life is a gift, starting from the past, then moving through to the present, and then to look forward to what the future must teach her. Then it is her responsibility to pass on her knowledge and happiness, to all who wish to be a part of her life!!
Lisa’s WIZO journey began with her grandmother Booba Fejga Konewka, being a founding member of WIZO Kinnereth in 1952. Booba Fejga was a strong participant to the ripe old age of 102. Lisa’s mother Golda Gross has been very involved with WIZO Nirim since 1958. Golda is one of the most charitable people Lisa knows. Her WIZO mentor is the unforgettable pocket rocket, Ruth Scheuer, who has been and still is the President of WIZO Nirim since 1958. Ruth has been her WIZO guide for so many years!! The above three women are the reason she was motivated to become a founder, and a 10-year group president tenure, of WIZO Chavera, which began in 2000. Lisa is still heavily involved with this group!!!!
Lisa was also involved in the WIZO Victoria Executive for many years. She was then asked to join the WIZO Australia Executive, which keeps her involved with decision making which is so important in keeping WIZO moving forward.
WIZO volunteering has been an integral part of Lisa’s life. She believes it is so very important for people to help people in need. Volunteering one’s time and donating hard earned cash, to both Australian and Israeli charities, is a must, in her eyes.
Lisa leads a super-busy life as an entrepreneur in a business which she began in 1991. She knows that hard work and commitment will continue to grow and grow the business! She is also busy with household
management, being a big part of her adult children’s lives, being a good Bubba Lisa, too. She is always there for her extended family, and socialising with friends too.
Lisa always finds time to be available for the WIZO cause. Charity has always played a fundamental role in society, and she would like to thank the WIZO Chavera, WIZO Victoria and WIZO Australia, for being such a dynamic group, and an absolute pleasure to volunteer with. Being part of the WIZO cause is good for the soul.
WIZO members and volunteers are part of the bigger worldly picture, which is to make this world a better place.
Lisa has been to Israel and has seen the amazing WIZO projects:
WIZO is involved in the welfare of infants and children via day care centres, schools, youth clubs and halfway homes.
WIZO works towards the advancement of the status of women in Israel, via humanitarian support and leadership groups.
WIZO helps treat victims of domestic violence, and to provide shelters and many care facilities for the ones in need.
WIZO also creates fabulous friendships, whilst being part of the important, caring cause.
WIZO is a fabulous sisterhood to belong to!!!
And just to add some general info: WIZO has over 250, 000 members across 52 countries, worldwide – wow factor!
Lisa wishes to acknowledge all the generous support and donations she has requested and received throughout all her volunteering years. She is honoured to have been given the opportunity to be part of this amazing celebration of WIZO being 100 years old!!
Lisa states that one of her wishes is to see health, happiness, and prosperity for everyone in this world.
